Why and How to Flourish in 9 Steps

Why and how to flourish in 9 steps

Because being fulfilled is a guarantee of happiness, but also of prosperity, not only for oneself, but also for society. A fulfilled person is fulfilled in his or her role as a parent, spouse, worker or entrepreneur. In his or her own way, he or she contributes to the well-being of his or her family as well as to that of society.

Grow, stagnate or degrade!

As it grows, a tree can flourish, but it can also stagnate or deteriorate. Just like an individual. Like good wine, some improve with time while others regress and turn sour with the years.

"My spouse was charming, funny and full of plans, but for years he has been slowly fading away. He's 50 and I feel like he's 90. In fact, my father has more vitality than he does." - Suzanne

Fulfillment is more than just business or professional success. A fulfilled person is one who is becoming or working towards becoming what they have the potential to be. They use their talents to do work that is meaningful to them, as well as to contribute to the well-being of those around them. Work and parenting are of course two important vehicles for an individual's growth.

What are the characteristics of a fulfilled person?

In fact, each of them has some common characteristics overall. Here's how to recognize and adopt the characteristics of flourishing in 9 steps:

1. Be able to tolerate uncertainty

To move forward, you must be willing to tolerate uncertainty and trust that you will find the resources to meet the demands of life.

2. Accepting yourself and others

We all have qualities and faults, and so do others. We can certainly try to improve ourselves, but we cannot pretend to change others.

3. Focus on solutions to problems, not on self

In this case, victimization does not improve our lives. It only takes away our power to act. We have little control over external events, but only we can determine how we react to them.

4. Use humor

Being able to laugh at yourself is a good indicator of psychological health and self-esteem.

5. Be creative

Creating, developing and innovating are for the most part actions that require stepping out of our comfort zone.

6. Resist cultural constraints

There are other ways of thinking and learning about other cultures is a source of openness and acceptance.

7. Recognize and be grateful for the little things in life

Gratitude is a key factor in growth.

8. Improve the quality of your interpersonal relationships

Develop and maintain deep and satisfying relationships with a limited number of people, unlike many superficial relationships. Making meaningful connections with people is also a guarantee of happiness.

9. Look at life with a more objective perspective

Don't be too pessimistic or too naive. Looking at life realistically makes it easier to cope with and adapt to life.

Now that we know the characteristics of successful people, we can decide to choose one of these characteristics and work on it. As an entrepreneur or manager, it is desirable, even necessary, to provide a place for employees that can contribute more to their flourishing. They will be more productive and happy. The best way to succeed in any field is to be around those who have succeeded, to listen to them, and to observe their way of doing, being and thinking. Know how to put all the chances on your side. Seek out the presence of those who you feel are successful in their own right. After all, everyone wants to be happy!
